Stanley Druckenmiller Decides to Punt: Soro’s Ex-Manager to Close Shop

Stanley Druckenmiller Decides to Punt

MONEY & INVESTING: The Wall Street Journal, Thursday,  August 19, 2010, By Jenny Strasburg and Mark Gongloff:

“Billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller told clients he is ending a 30-year run as one of the industry’s most successful hedge-fund managers … The 57-year old fund boss…will still have some $8 billion to invest himself and divy (divide) up among portfolio managers currently working for him, say people familiar with the firm (Duquesne Capital Management).”

Punting (to punt) is a football term. A team punts (kicks the ball to the opposing team)  during a “4th down” of a football game.  (See alphabitized list in http://www.sportsidioms.com:  “to kick the ball to the opposing team, usually on the fourth down, when the ball needs to be turned over to the opposing team.”)
